Performing Artists of Dîner en Blanc - Hampton Roads 2015
We owe a huge thank you to our band and DJ who helped set the tone for the evening. They certainly contributed to the success of the event.
Pure Chemistry is a group of polished musicians that found making music together is an assignment. They have continued making the good grade entertaining for various venues and events in Hampton Roads. They have performed in local venues such as the Train Station, Comfort Zone, Music in the Park / Richmond, VA and Hampton University Jazz Week. Some members have graced the big stages of the Richmond and Norfolk Jazz festivals and Blues Alley in Washington D.C. The band is comprised of one engineer, a software supervisor, a member of the U.S. Navy, a hair stylist, a counselor and other professions. Pure Chemistry has a strong sound that includes the soulful and warm strokes of a Yamaha electric violin. Violinist Gina J. Payne came to Pure Chemistry as a guest artist with the band and has remained featured artist. The violin is a classy but sassy addition that welcomes crowds of all ages. Pure Chemistry is a family of friends that have a commitment to use their gifts to provide excellence.
As far as he can remember, DJ Saint James has always loved music. No matter where he was or what he was doing, he always believed that things should happen to music. He always wanted others to hear what he was hearing, to share in his musical experience. So he took it to the next level, recording his live mixes, and promoting himself at various local clubs. A chance meeting at a birthday party got him started at Astro DJs, where he has steadily worked, with the occasional break, for the past 15 years.
At first mostly a club DJ, he has since broadened his abilities over a decade to include corporate functions, weddings, and almost any other type of event. While honing his skills in the private party sector, DJ Saint James also followed his heart along the way, working in some of the hottest clubs in Hampton Roads, including Chevy’s, R/C’s, Bugattis, Granby Theater, Time Lounge, Voodoo Rouge, Jillians, Mcfaddens, Tribeca, and most recently, KAI in Richmond and The Wave in Norfolk.
DJ Saint James has worked at the International DJ Expo in Atlantic City every year for the past 9 years, representing and demonstrating the most popular DJ software in the world, Virtual DJ. This has allowed him to become a unique commodity in the party and club markets, offering a spectacular video show, combining music and visual imagery into one synchronized mix.
Having been booked as far north as New Jersey, as far south as the Florida Keys, and even out west in Milwaukee, he has enjoyed sharing his love of music in many places, such as Maryland, D.C., Atlanta, North Carolina, and of course, his home state of Virginia.
